In seeking green pastures, Nkanyiso travelled to Johannesburg to audition for Uzalo for the first time, and he failed.
At this point, he didn’t know that there were also auditions in Durban, where he finally passed.
Speaking of his failure to get on Uzalo, he said:
“I auditioned in Johannesburg because I didn’t know about the Durban auditions. So I took a bus, got there at 6 am and only auditioned at 6 pm. It was my first acting audition. I didn’t know what to expect, but the experience taught me a lot about acting auditions and how to be confident and wear your character before you get on stage. The whole experience taught me to be patient,”
Before he joined Uzalo, Nkanyiso worked as an intern at 1KZN TV, where he learned a lot about television, from production and presenting to acting.

This is where he started believing that he could make it in the entertainment industry.
After 1KZN TV, he joined Craz-e as a presenter, and he was impressed until he passed his auditions in 2018.
He said that he was happy at Craz-e, but he promised himself that he would not stay there for over three years before he moved to a bigger job.
After joining Uzalo as Njeza, Nkanyiso was already experienced, and he hit the ground right the first time.
