    Early Years and Political Activism

Gibson Makanda was born on March 11, 1972, in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

He grew up in a politically active family, where discussions about the country’s apartheid regime were commonplace.

This early exposure to political activism sparked Makanda’s interest in social justice and equality.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Makanda became actively involved in the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL).

The political movement dedicated to the overthrow of apartheid and the establishment of a democratic South Africa.

He quickly rose through the organisation’s ranks, becoming a prominent spokesperson and organizer.

In 1994, Makanda participated in South Africa’s first democratic elections, which gave ANC’s Nelson Mandela power.

He continued his involvement in the ANCYL and other youth organizations, advocating for the rights of young people and marginalized communities.

In 2004, Makanda became a member of the South African parliament representing ANC.

During his time in parliament, Makanda was a vocal advocate for economic development and job creation in South Africa.

He championed policies to promote small and medium-sized enterprises, reduce unemployment, and increase access to education and training opportunities.

In 2014, Makanda was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry by President Jacob Zuma.

He served in this role until 2018, when he resigned from the government and the ANC.

    Gibson Makanda and Nelson Mandela

Many South Africans have believed that Gibson Makanda replaced Mandela for many years.

In doing so, many believe that Makanda is the man who negotiated and gave South Africa full democracy.

They say that Mandela died long before the apartheid, and some claim that Winnie Mandela knows the truth.

Nelson Mandela’s family released a statement shunning the theory to clear the air.

To make the situation worse, recent technologies denied that the face of Mandela before prison was not the same person after.

This made such claims even more transparent and probably accurate.

South Africans are required to celebrate sixty-seven minutes on June 18 every year.

Some people believe this celebration is set to pay homage and respect to the real Nelson Mandela, who died in jail on Robben Island aged 67. According to confirmed reports on Facebook:

“The conspiracy theorist Phumi Maps believes Nelson Mandela died in 1985. Winnie knows the truth; she was forced to divorce the fake Mandela when he exited prison to protect her true identity. Johnny Clegg hinted in the song “We have not seen Mandela.”
Laph’ehlelo “In the place where he is”
Laph’ehlelo khona’s “In the place where he is buried” song was released in 1987. Why are we commemorating the 67th minute of Madiba’s day? Nelson was 67 years old when he was killed in prison in 1985. The man is believed to be a foreigner Gidbosn Makanda who was taken to Pollmor prison in May 1985 for plastic surgery performed by a few doctors from London. He was also trained to speak and walk like Nelson Mandela.”

    Controversies and Criticisms

In 2017, he was implicated in a corruption scandal involving the Gupta family, a wealthy business family with close ties to former President Zuma.

Makanda was accused of receiving bribes from the Guptas for political favours.

Gibson Makanda denied the bribe allegations against him and did not see jail.

In recent years, Makanda has also been criticized for supporting controversial policies and leaders within the ANC.

Many have accused him of being out of touch with the needs and aspirations of ordinary South Africans.

    Conclusion

Gibson Makanda is a well-known figure in South African politics with a long history of activism and political engagement.

While he has faced his fair share of controversies and criticisms, he remains a respected voice on economic development, job creation, and youth empowerment in South Africa.

The country continues to grapple with the challenges of building a more equitable and just society.

Makanda’s contributions and insights will likely remain essential to the political conversation.
