Zimbabwean dancehall musician Winky D wins another top African award.
Winky D is regarded as the best dancehall artist in Zimbabwe and has won many.

His music has penetrated fans’ hearts and has been their fan favourite for years.
Winky D has a controversial career, with some of his music aligned to politics.
He was banned from performing some of his songs, like Ibotso, where he narrated the economic hardships in Zimbabwe.

With such a profile, Winky D’s art had been noticed by many fans across Africa.
Many Zimbabweans congratulated him after winning the IRAWMA: International Reggae And World Music Awards as the best dancehall artist.
Some local musicians like Anita Jackson described him as a GOAT after scooping the award.

Sharing on his Instagram, Winky D penned a lengthy, heartfelt message to his fans thanking them.
“I will forever go beyond grateful and humbled to have earned the unwavering support and love for my music from my brothers and sisters in music. You will remain the driving force behind anything that graces my way musically. I find no words to express how much it means to me to have such a loyal music base.” he said.
