Nota Baloyi has revealed his connection to Simphiwe Gumede, also known as Sim Dope, whom he went to primary school with. Sim Dope was previously only known as the title of a hit track by AKA, but was recently revealed to be a real person at AKA’s memorial service. Nota Baloyi claims that he knew Sim Dope before he knew AKA.
At the memorial service, Sim Dope was brought up in the context of his relationship with AKA and the fact that AKA dedicated a song to him. This revelation caused a stir on social media as people realized that Sim Dope was an actual person. Baloyi had previously been discussing AKA’s death, and later claimed that he had known Sim Dope before AKA.
Nota reveals that he knew Sim Dope before AKA
“Sim Dope got that scar while climbing a tree with me in primary school. I. was climbing a tree with me, and he climbed higher than me, and he fell. At Radford house, a boutique primary school. Before Kiernan ever met Sim Dope, I was in primary school with Sim Dope. He went to get his stitches and after the second break, he was back in school. That’s Sim Dope.”
Adding to what he had already said about Sim Dope, Nota went on to share even more shocking news that left Mzansi speechless. He said that Sim did what young rich stars like Andile Mpisane is now doing, Sim did it when he was still around 15 years.
“Sim dope had a soccer team at 16. Today we talk about Andile Mpisane’s being chairmans in their 20s. Sim Dop was doing that while he was still in high school in Mpumalanga. He was one of those privileged kids whose father had worked so hard at the upper epilogue of business. He is the owner of the Lions. The first black owner of a rugby team. He was still the most humble person, so Kiernan had to honour him.”
