Mzansi was shellshocked when the news of the untimely death of Barcadi king Itumeleng ‘Mosoeu, best known as Vusi Ma R5, videos of his funeral have made rounds on social media. The celebrated Vusi was shot at point blank when he was showered with a hail of bullets in the early hours of Monday, 30 January. This happened just outside a tavern he was performing at in Soshanguve.
His memorial had a fair share of drama in the mix of this untimely death. It hogged headlines for the wrong reasons, perhaps. His memorial service was held at Mabopane Indoor Sports Hall. He was later laid to rest on Sunday, 5 May 2023.
However, thousands of people flooded the hall as they celebrated the life of Vusi. In the mix of things, their dressing left a lot to be puzzled about. Buttless ripped jeans were the order of the day. Booze, burnouts, and raunchy dancing were some of the major highlights of the day. One lady stole the attention at the memorial service of slain Pretoria musician and Barcadi king Itumeleng’ Mosoeu, also known as Vusi Ma R5 this week.
What happened at Vusi Ma R5’s funeral?
In the wake of social media trends many have been trying to connect the dots on who is Vusi Ma R5. What was he famous for? Ma R5 has been fingered as one of the famous Bacardi House (commonly referred to as just Bacardi). During his illustrious career, he dropped some smash hits, including Thaba Ke changitse and Tse nnyane.
What saddens me is the fact that his murder comes in the backdrop of another Tshwane artist’s assassination. Amapiano producer DJ Sumbody was gunned down whilst in the company of his bodyguard in November 2022. Since the Mzansi is yet to hear more about the ongoing investigations. However, reports have it that no arrests have been made regarding the murder.
