There was drama court after Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer was halted before the judges to answer rape charges levelled against him. He is being accused of raping his 15-year-old neighbour.
The court heard the suspect, Nicholas Muwori, 38, allegedly raped her neighbour before silencing her with US$1.The matter was heard before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa. Gofa remanded him in custody after advising him to seek bail at the High Court.
The complaint is said to be a form three at a local Harare Secondary School.
The court heard that sometime in March last year, Muwori approached the whilst she was home alone. The reports have it that the teen was alone in her dining room.
However, despite ignoring Muwori, he followed her into her room. While in the bedroom, Muwori allegedly pushed her, forcing the minor to fall on the bed on her back.
In the mix of things, he started rubbing the teen forcefully. The state has it that Muwori then allegedly raped the minor once without using protection. Upon finishing his ordeal, the court heard that he then gave the teen $1 as a token to keep silent. He even vowed to give her more.
The girl kept the incident to herself, but it didn’t give her peace. It is alleged that on January 29, the complainant was at school when she collapsed.
After gaining consciousness, she was interviewed by her teacher, and she revealed the sexual abuse. The teacher then informed the complainant’s mother about the girl’s experience leading to the matter being reported to the police. Medical affidavits will be used as exhibits in court.
