Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has been topping trends of late after he came to famous socialite Zodwa Mkandla’s defence after she was implicated in a drug trafficking incident. Mliswa came guns blazing after social media went after him as one of the biggest drug lords in town. Social media users followed the socialite and implicated her as the most significant drug trafficker.
In the wake of the viral allegations, Mliswa didn’t-hold his words back. He has it that people are trying to settle scores with cheap attacks. Mliswa categorically dismissed the allegations against Zodwa Mkandla.
He even challenged Zimbabweans to celebrate her stellar achievements instead of soiling her illustrious career that spans decades using baseless allegations. Mliswa said:
“It seems at times we hate ourselves as a people. We have severe issues of drug abuse& instead of fighting it, some have chosen to use that for cheap attacks against people like Zodwa Mkandla, accusing her of peddling drugs and dangerous substances. How cheap is that!
“Zodwa has been involved in issues of tourism for a long and has done very well. She has been selling Zimbabwe to the broader global community and has done very well. She recently brought in Nigerian musician D’banj. Her work is in the public sphere.
“Ultimately, her business actions are vital for the country, and we all benefit. Unfortunately, some have accused her of dealing drugs, which is very unfortunate and a lie. We may have issues with each other’s political orientations, but we shouldn’t manufacture lies.
“Zodwa has done very well& should be celebrated, not dragged down through lies about drugs. I may differ with people like Passion Java, but when they do something that celebrates& upholds the country, there is no need to be attritional and spiteful.
“We can’t all support the same politics or parties. Let’s leave room for logic and progress in all our differences. I know that when you do well, people will always jump up with crazy stories.
“I applaud Zodwa for what she has done and dedicate Hebrews 13:16, which says trust in God, not men. Enjoy your birthday today, and keep celebrating. We must celebrate success. Those with evidence should go to the police instead of dragging someone down with fabrications.”
